Work in New Zealand
Skilled work permits for a country known for quality of life. We help you prepare and connect with accredited employers where roles are available.
New Zealand attracts skilled workers who want a high quality of life. Most people begin with a work visa tied to an accredited employer, and some later move to residence through skilled pathways, which were updated in August 2026.

How the New Zealand work permit route works
- Check your eligibility and which occupations are in demand.
- Prepare your profile, including your qualifications and experience evidence.
- Connect with accredited employers that have roles you can fill.
- Your employer completes the job checks, and you apply for the work visa.
- Arrive, work and plan ahead for any residence pathway.

Questions about New Zealand
Do I need a job offer first?
Yes. Most work visas are tied to a job offer from an accredited employer, so employer connection is the first step.
Can I get residence later?
Some workers qualify for residence through skilled pathways after gaining New Zealand experience. The requirements, including wage levels and years of experience, changed in August 2026.
Is there an age limit?
Applicants for the Skilled Migrant Category residence visa generally need to be 55 or younger.
Which jobs qualify?
It depends on the occupation and its skill level on Immigration New Zealand’s National Occupation List, and on your employer’s accreditation and Job Check. We check your exact job against the official information before advising, and we tell you honestly if it is unlikely to qualify.
